Cookie Notice

ChikaBebe sets three essential cookies that the site cannot work without, and two optional ones for measurement that are set only if you agree to them. Nothing optional loads until you choose, and you can change your answer at any time.

Essential cookies

These three are set because the site cannot do what you asked of it otherwise. Under EU and UK rules, cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you requested do not require consent, and these cannot be switched off while you are using the site.

  • A sign-in cookie, which keeps you logged into your account. It is readable only by our server, not by any script, and it expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
  • cb_lang, which remembers whether you chose English, Russian or Bulgarian, so the site does not reset to English every time you arrive. It lasts a year.
  • cb_consent, which records the answer you gave about analytics so we do not ask again on every page. It holds one word, granted or denied, and it lasts six months.

Optional: analytics, only if you say yes

If you choose Accept, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which articles parents actually read. It tells us that a page was opened, when, roughly which country or city it was opened from, and which page or search led there. It does not tell us who you are. We never send it your name, your email address, or anything you write in the workbook, and the addresses we send it are stripped of anything private first, so an unsubscribe link or an order confirmation never carries your email or a security token into Google.

  • _ga, set by Google Analytics to tell one browser apart from another. Google default lifetime is two years. We shorten it to six months so it never outlives the consent that allowed it.
  • _ga_VPRB34SGX6, set by Google Analytics to keep the state of your current visit. Same source, same six months.

Neither cookie exists, and no request is made to Google at all, before you press Accept. The measurement script is not sitting in the page waiting for permission: it is fetched only after your click. As a second lock, the security policy this site sends with every page does not permit any connection to Google unless your browser is carrying a recorded consent, so a future mistake in our own code cannot quietly start tracking you.

We have turned off the advertising half of Google Analytics. Google Signals and ad personalisation are both disabled, which means what we collect is not added to Google advertising profiles and is not used to target ads at you anywhere else. Google processes this for us under its data processing terms.

Saying no, and changing your mind

Reject is one click, in the same place, at the same size, in the same style as Accept. There is no second screen and no hidden setting, and we do not ask again after you decline.

If you accepted and want to undo it, choose Cookie settings at the bottom of any page and press Reject. We delete the Google cookies from your browser straight away and stop the measurement running in the page you are on. We also ask everyone again after six months, rather than treating one click in one moment as permission forever.

Things stored on your device, but not cookies

Your browser also keeps a few things in local storage, on your own device. They never leave it and we cannot read them from our servers: your answers in the workbook, which video lesson you last watched, and where you left off. This is what lets you close the tab and come back without losing your place. Clearing your browser data will erase them.

If you are signed in, your workbook answers are also saved to your account, so they follow you from your phone to your laptop. You can download or delete all of it from your account page at any time.

What we still do not use

  • No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no Facebook pixel, no retargeting.
  • No social media widgets, no like buttons, and no embedded content that reports back to another company.
  • No third-party fonts. This one is worth spelling out: many websites load their fonts from Google, and that quietly sends the visitor IP address to Google on every single page load, with no cookie involved and no consent asked. ChikaBebe serves its fonts from its own servers, so that does not happen here.

Bot protection

Our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a form is being filled in by a person rather than a script. Turnstile is designed as a privacy-preserving alternative to reCAPTCHA: it does not use cookies to track you and does not follow you across other websites. Without it, our contact form and our sign-in emails could be used to flood a stranger inbox.

How to remove them

You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. If you remove the sign-in cookie you will simply be signed out. If you remove cb_lang the site will start in English again. If you remove cb_consent we will ask you about analytics again on your next visit. Nothing breaks permanently.
